I thought I’d share some answers to questions I’ve been asked recently: When you watch the Great March, do you actually see a non-violent protest? Are Palestinian protestors really peace loving people with no desire to destroy Israel? What is the end goal of the rockets, fire kites, etc?
The killing of Palestinians is not new. It has been going on for decades, unabated, uncriticized, and bankrolled by the US. It is the law of our land to withhold aid to countries that commit such human rights abuses.
CONTEXT is often missing from conversations about the history of Palestine-Israel. Winston Churchill famously said, "History is written by the victors." But the defeated still keep records of their past.
Mahmoud was shot in the face by an Israeli sharpshooter; the bullet entered through his eye and exited out the back of his head. His parents were not allowed to leave Gaza to be with him in the hospital in the West Bank for the first 2 weeks after he was shot. Mahmoud will need longterm rehabilitation, as he likely has severe brain damage.
After effective occupation of territory, members of the territory’s armed forces who have not surrendered, organized resistance movements and genuine national liberation movements may resist the occupation.
Territory is considered occupied when it is placed under the authority of the hostile army. The occupation extends only to the territory where this authority has been established and can be exercised. The law on occupation applies to all cases of partial or total occupation, even if such occupation does not encounter armed resistance.
